So I am Kylie, a mum of a child with Aspergers. Here is my list of apps on the iPad that I think are good. They are in no particular order. The descriptions underneath come from the iTunes store. My personal comments are asterisked and in light blue. Please be careful of getting free apps as a lot of them use advertising banners and I have been caught with a couple having dodgy photos of women in them. I have not played each of these apps extensively and the list is only meant to be a guide of where to start J My son has a special interest in Trains, so there are a lot of apps relating to that on here. “Scene Builder” came out of our years of observing children – some gifted, some on the spectrum, some both – and noting that many preferred games that involved creating and building rather than defeating enemies. Please let us know how your child responds to the game - and what you think!
“Scene Builder – Car Mechanic” allows kids to create scenes in five different rooms of a virtual Mechanic’s shop. Children select props from a warehouse, then rotate, enlarge or shrink them, and position them to create cool scenes. Kids can take snapshots of their creations and view them in the game's Photo Gallery or on the iPhone's camera roll. At the end of the session, the player's current game is saved so he can continue where he left off next time. A creative and imaginative way to spend some spare time!
